Building a community of lifelong learners.
St Nicolas Preschool is a registered Charity and is overseen by a volunteer parent Committee. We have been running since 1981 and we pride ourselves in the excellent level of care, learning and development that we offer to the early years community. Our caring team of staff have full and relevant qualifications in Early Years, and Continued Professional Development is a priority for our staff, including safeguarding. We hope that you can find everything you are looking for on our website, but if you have any questions please email us on stnicolaspreschool@btinternet.com or call us on 01235 536061 and we will be glad to help. Please note that we do not take children younger than 3 years old.
APPLYING FOR A PRESCHOOL PLACE (SPACES CURRENTLY AVAILABLE)
If you are interested in a place for your child(ren), please download an application form and return it to us either by email or if this is not possible then by post. You can apply for your child to be put on our waiting list from when they are 2 years' old although they would not start with us until the September following their 3rd birthday. Sometimes we have a smaller intake in January, if places are available, for children who turn 3 between September-December. Visits to preschool can be arranged by telephoning or emailing us. If you have any questions please email stnicolaspreschool@btinternet.com or call 01235 536061.
We offer 15 hours universal funding and we also offer the extended 30 hours funding to eligible families subject to availability (and a valid 30 hour code for the 30 hours funding). 30 hour funding codes need to be validated in the term prior to your child starting with us. Please go to the website www.childcarechoices.gov.uk for more information including how to apply for the 30 hour funding.
It is very important that you inform us on your application form of any additional needs or concerns that you may have regarding your child's development when you apply for your child's place This is so that we can ensure that we can meet their needs and make arrangements to see how we can support them as soon as possible.
It is your responsibility to ensure that we have all the relevant information regarding your child and failure to do so or withholding important information , may result in your child's place being withdrawn.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework which sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five. "It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children's 'school readiness' and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress.." St. Nicolas Pre-school is an independent, charity-run preschool and is in partnership with St. Nicolas School Foundation Stage. This is run by a Joint Steering Group which has a parent from each setting among its representatives. This partnership gives our children an opportunity to experience a school environment through our weekly singing sessions in Reception classes, transition visits and our good working relationships with the Headmaster and Reception staff. Our close links encourage a smooth transition into school life.
PLEASE NOTE: Although we work closely with St Nicolas School, attending our pre-school does not guarantee a place at St Nicolas School - you will need to apply separately for a school place if you wish to do so. For more information about St Nicolas Primary school, please contact them directly:
